Fraudulent Checks Passed at Two Banks in WI

FRPA received the following information about fraudulent checks being passed at two banks in Menomonie WI.

We received the following information:

DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: January 9, 2024

MN, and IA BOL also 

LOCATION OF INCIDENT: City of Menomonie 

DETAILS OF INCIDENT: 

On January 9, 2024, a white male suspect opened checking accounts at Dairy State Bank and Citizen's Bank in Menomonie. The suspect used a fake Georgia driver's license named John Southwood d.o.b. 5/18/88 to open the accounts and told the bank tellers he was a truck driver. 

On 01/12/2024, between approximately 0852 hours and 1010 hours, the suspect cashed fake checks at Citizens State Bank branches located in Hudson, Roberts, Woodville, and Elmwood totaling over $11k. 

The suspect also cashed two other fake checks at Dairy State banks located in Menomonie and Downsville totaling over $4k. 

The suspect arrived to each location on foot, so no vehicle information is available. This is being sent out statewide because the suspect does not appear local.
