10,000 stolen Social Security numbers recovered in arrest

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) — Officers said they recovered more than 10,000 stolen Social Security numbers, bank account numbers and bank routing information as part of an identity theft investigation that resulted in a 36-year-old man's arrest.

More than 1,000 pieces of stolen identification from people across the United States were found in an initial search of Jerry Callis' home in the 9000 block of Montoya Street, according to a Thursday news release from county officials.

Callis -- who was arrested July 31 -- had an outstanding felony warrant and a history of arrests for identity theft crimes, officials said.
